Jenny asked me to post this (she has more faith in my abilities than I) (and I can always contact Molly if I need to! Thank goodness for MJ). New book for February is Letters in the Jade Dragon Box. This link b3044 will take you to Deseret Book. Hard copy is 22.49, but you can get an ebook version with the Deseret Book reader (free) for 12.99.
We're wide open for sign ups for next year....get in early! We do have the first 3 months taken care of, so not to worry. Janet Weed will host in January; Karen Fife in February; Julie Marshall in March and I signed up for June.
I am so loving reading about Pres. Monson. It was slow going for me at first, but now that he's grown I really look forward to reading. There was a part (pg 126) when he was taking a bus tour and they passed an LDS chapel. Someone asked the driver if he knew anything about the Mormons. He said he didn't and then asked the people on the bus if there was anyone who could tell them about the Mormons. Pres. Monson said...there was no one there to tell them and so he spent the next little while and did as Peter did. The scripture reference was to 1 Peter 3:15. His response and that verse has caused me some reflection. Anyway... I'm enjoying the book.
Here's to 2012 and to new adventures through books!

RSVP
I forgot to request a RSVP to Karen for book club tomorrow. I don't know if she needs it, but it might be nice if everyone let her know it they will be attending.

Lunch on Thursday
Hello Book Friends,
A big thank you to Karen Fife who will be hosting book club this week. I received a summons for jury duty and Karen was so willing to take my month for me. I am still hoping to show up on Thursday anyway. Lunch will be at 12:30.
The book for discussion is A Prisoner of Birth. Next month the book is The Beekeeper's Apprentice and Jenny will be hosting.

We had such a lovely time at Janet's today. She didn't get rid of us until 3:30! Great conversation and time well spent. Thank you!!! We chose the book: The Beekeeper's Apprentice by King. It's the first in a series about Sherlock Holmes and.... the girl. (I can't remember her name). We're hoping we like it and then we have a whole new series and a new author to read.

New Book Selected
Dear Friends,
The book chosen at today's luncheon was A Prisoner of Birth by Jeffery Archer. Next month we will be in Janet Weed's home discussing Unbroken. We missed all who were not there today.
I love our get togethers, you make me laugh and cry and think and enjoy life. I feel like I live not just the length of life but also the width when I'm with you.

July book club luncheon
Hello Friends,
Sue and I traded months, so book club is at my house for July.
There is a bit of a problem, though. Barbara Avila's funderal is scheduled for Thursday the 28th, so book club won't work for us then.
Friday is the last day of the month and that is also out for me as is the first week of August.
So, I am proposing that book club be on Wednesday, July 27th, at 12:30. Could you all please let me know if that would work for you.
I would appreciate hearing from you all as soon as possible since Wed is coming up pretty quickly. Thank you very much!!

Update
Hello Book Friends,
I've had several calls regarding book club this morning and just wanted to give everyone the address for the blog again so that you can check it anytime. The address is www.ldsbookladies.blogspot.com. I have added in the new books and as always the calendar is on there. It looks like the month of May is Laverne's, I have not spoken with her though. Would it be helpful to also have a printed calendar that you can post on your refrigerator?
Let me know if you received this email, I want to make sure everyone is able to be updated.
